Notebook: Only six players under par after first round
Weather: Cloudy, warm and humid with intermittent showers throughout the day. Highs reached the upper 70s. Winds were from SW at 10-20 mph. The course received over 2 inches of rain since early Thursday evening and the start of play was delayed for 1 hour, 39 minutes due to the rain and wet conditions. Lift, clean and place rules were in effect.

Chris Kirk takes first-round lead at Utah Championship
SANDY, Utah -- Chris Kirk, sparked by a hole-in-one, shot a 6-under 65 Thursday to take the first-round lead at the Utah Championship. Kirk, who took last week off after winning the Knoxville News Sentinel Open, picked up right where he left off and grabbed one-shot advantage over Michael Putnam, Cliff Kresge and Fabian Gomez.
